From layout to compositing, producers may have to review over ten thousand shots for a 26x26 series. SPI production facilitates the reviewing and approval process.

Once designs and pre-production have been completed, the building of the shots of an episode may start. Different versions of shots are then built by studios and sent to the producer for review. Once a version has been reviewed and approved, the next version may be built and proposed to the producer. The shots thus travel from early versions such as animatic to more advanced versions such as compositing. In order to ease the review of a large number of shots in a given amount of time, SPI production focuses and optimizes the reviewing and approval process.

Each time a shot is built by a studio, it is examined and if it complies with the producer's specifications it is sent for review. This guaranties that only required and valid shots are sent to the producer. The episode is automatically edited with the latest version of shots. The shot, the latest edit of the episode as well as the full history of the shot may be viewed with the quicktime player. All those medias are stored locally at the producer's offices hence avoiding unnecessary download time. While the shot is played, the producer may draw on top of it, write some comments and simply attach these elements to the shot for the studio in charge of the retake.

SPI production is automatically fed by the shots submitted by studios. Shot submission is as simple as dropping a list of files into a directory. Based on naming conventions, shots are identified and processed. Daily reports may be sent to the producer and the studio to let them know how many shots where submitted and how many were rejected. For all rejected shots, SPI production provides an explicit error message intended to the studio in charge. All this information is organized in a single database which can be consulted by all the different authorized partners thus ensuring that all partners share and view the exact same information at the same time.

Many producers rely on SPI production every day

By greatly enhancing our approval and validation process, SPI contributed to the amelioration of the quality of Galactik football season II- Jean Pierre Quenet (COO - Gaumont/Alphanim)

The SPI is an excellent tool for the production control. That allows an effective follow-up for the producer but also for services companies. Especially for our Asian partners who have at their disposal an effective, fast and simple solution to manage and send their work in tightly scheduled productions- Thierry Pinardaud (Head of Productions - Mondo TV France)

During the production process, SPI Production allowed us to review, comment, and approve our episodes on a scene-by-scene basis. SPI Production allowed a very fast turnaround of submissions, comments and corrections, with contributors from a variety of countries. SPI Production proved very effective, too, as a tool for statistics and for the daily monitoring and follow-up of the entire process.- Caterina Gonelli-Linden (Line Producer - Moonscoop)

SPI Production considerably helped us on the Production of Kaeloo. Providing an overview of where we were at in the production of our animated series as well a detailed view of each shot through a nice and easy to use interface was a real benefit. SPI production prevented us from doing all the bulky ftp transfer work and also allowed us to review shots faster. I would strongly advise all line producers to seriously consider using SPI production for their upcoming projects.- Pierrot Jacquet (Line Producer - Cube Creative)
